Life In Da Burbs

The innaugural Battle at the Boardwalk came and went this weekend. We had a strong outcome of spectators and competitors, and with all things considered, it was a great success. 15 martial arts events under one roof. This is the first time in history for an event of this magnitute to be pulled of on American soil. GHK Enterprises is proud to promote next year's 2007 Battle at the Boardwalk, and will work harder to make next year's event an even bigger and more action packed weekend than this year's. Thank you all for your strong support and hard work... Let's make next year's BATB an even bigger hit. My family stopped by to check out the event on Saturday. This is a view of our registration booths before the mass wave of competitors and spectators arrived in the morning. The Atlantic City Convention Center is quite impressive. The ACCC has over 400,000 square feet of usable display space, and 20 seperate suites where you can hold meetings, seminars, banquets. Through out 4 floors...

Here is a view from the judges seats of the cage. This was probably the start of the 2nd bout of the night. We had a lot of positive feedback with the Mixed Martial Arts and also the Amateur Mixed Martial Arts. We hope to continue to promote these fights through out New Jersey this year.

Here is a view from the middle of the hall. We had seats set up for the Friday Night Fights in the Cage. All the way accross the hall were the mats and seating for the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu by Master Jean Jacques Machado.

For the past few months, J and I have been going through the motions of a typical newly wed couple with too much on their plate. I am at work till 8pm, she is taking the train back from the city coming back around 8 or so and sometimes even later due to classes at NYU. Well, my parents are back for a few weeks visiting and they prepared a great dinner for us. Along with our (asian staple) rice and soup, we had pan seared salmon with a soy, rice wine and ginger root sauce, pan fried okra and minced pork in garlic sauce, and broiled mullet roe (which happens to be a delicacy in taiwan and japan). Mullet roe or "karasumi" is considered a rare fish roe and it just so happens that this year has been quite blessed with an abundance of healthy and fertile fish in the waters of taiwan. My father picked up the one we ate last night in taiwan. It weighed over 600 grams (never seen before). And boy was it good. We complimented the "karasumi" with some fresh daikon radish...

This is the view from out my garage... The first snow storm of the year and we get 14 inches... nice. Central Park in NYC got a record 26.9 inches over the weekend. Quite amazing. Hope the roads clear in time for the commute tomorrow. Drive safely everyone.
