C'etait Un Rendezvous by Claude Lelouch

Filmed in 1976, the revered short film by seminal French director Claude Lelouch is regarded as the ultimate in chase scenes - the connoisseurs' trump card in response to "Bullitt" or "The French Connection". Absolutely compulsive - this astonishing, exhilarating and now legendary drive through a beautiful 70s Paris with its surprise ending is shrouded in myths. ** *Wikipedia article ***The route mapped out on google. Baltimore Weekend

Image
J and I just came back from a weekend trip to Baltimore, MD. Wayne and Winnie came down with us. Good times. Here are some pictures from o ur trip. We stayed at Joe and Elaines place near DC and had a blast. We arrived saturday and had a year's worth of crabs. Then for dinner, we tried Etheopian food. On our drive back, we hit some terrible traffic, but we made the most of it by cracking jokes and looking up stuff on wikipedia. We are such geeks.

White Alba Truffles

Image
It's White Truffle Season, and restaurants are loading up on big ticket items like these bad boys. I brought these home from work today and my house has since appreciated in value. My kitchen smells like White Truffles... No, I take that back, my whole house smells like White Alba Truffles... I've been walking around Manhattan all day with these in my James Bond-esque aluminum attache case. Along with my scale, calculator, and invoices neatly tucked away in the compartments. To your left, this particular nugget weighed in at over 200 grams. And the one on the right was about 150 grams. So in total, they retail at about $3,000. Holy Schnikeys!!!

Roasted Poussin

Image
Roasted some Poussin over the weekend. Although it's not necessarily a game bird, this was the closest thing I had to one and so we made do. It was simple. Washed and patted it dry. Then thru in a garlic clove in the cavity, (wished i had some thyme) salt and peppered the exterior and roasted it at 375 for 25 minutes. Let rest for another 10. Perfection! Made a pan sauce with the fond from the roasting pan. It was GOOOOD!.

My wife just picked up one of these badboys for me, and I love it. You can watch your home TV/DVR(Tivo)/DVD all from your laptop anywhere in the world (as long as you have high speed internet). I've been setting up the home entertainment system to filter through this machine and it worked right on the first try. Setup was a piece of cake. And one other thing, I can access this on my Treo! Wow, technology is great.

Truffle Butter Time!!!

Image
In less than a week, I will be debuting a new brand of Truffle Butter to the NY market. My mission is to educate the general public and introduce them to the wonderful world of Truffles. So let me first explain to you what Truffles are... Some of you may be thinking why on earth would anybody want to mix round chocolate balls into butter? NO NO NO. I'm talking about mushroom truffles silly! The Truffles I'm talking about are spherical shaped fungi that grow under oak or pine trees in the deep forests of France and Italy. They can be either black or white, depending on the species. And since they are so freakin rare, they demand a premium price. $4,000 a pound for Whites Alba Truffles, and $2,500 a pound for Black Winter Truffles. Yah, no kidding... They're fucken expensive. But they taste great. So imagine, the most pleasantly pungent little thing incorporated into rich creamy butter... That is some good stuff. Let it melt right on a nice juicy grilled steak, or simp...
